# PDF Triage – bulk PDF accessibility checker > PDF Triage (https://pdftriage.dev) is a free, browser-based bulk PDF accessibility checker. Drop a whole folder of PDFs and it sorts every file into five buckets – scanned, untagged, needs fixes, quick fix, passes – using 16 automated checks aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA, then estimates remediation effort and vendor cost. Files are processed locally with pdf.js and pdf-lib and are never uploaded to a server. It is built for U.S. state and local governments (cities, counties, school districts, public colleges, libraries, special districts, including Puerto Rico) preparing for the ADA Title II web rule deadlines (April 26, 2027 for entities of 50,000+ people; April 26, 2028 for smaller entities and special districts), and for the agencies and vendors that quote PDF remediation for them. Key facts: - Pricing: Free (up to 10 PDFs per batch, full on-screen results, effort and cost estimate). Pro: USD 29 one-time payment, lifetime – unlimited PDFs per batch, CSV export (remediation queue), printable report, batch metadata fixes (title, language, display-document-title, tab order) downloaded as a ZIP. - Runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux and Chromebook. No sign-up, no install. Works offline after the page loads. - What it checks: scanned/image-only pages, tags and structure tree, Marked flag, headings, tables with header cells, figures with alt text, document title (Info + XMP), primary language, display title, form field descriptions, XFA forms, bookmarks on long documents, tab order on pages with links, password/security settings that block assistive technology. - Limits (stated honestly): it is an automated pre-check/triage tool. It does not certify WCAG, PDF/UA or ADA compliance and is not legal advice. Reading order, alt-text quality, color contrast and table meaning still need human review. The batch fix never invents tags or alt text. - Languages: English and Spanish (https://pdftriage.dev/es/). - Not to be confused with "PDFTriage", the 2023 Adobe Research paper on question answering over long documents; pdftriage.dev is an unrelated, independent product. - Maker: independent software developer based in the Dominican Republic.
